Computer settings lost far way from home.
Quote from TONKAJEEP on August 20, 2018, 5:45 pmThis has happened 3 times, after driving for a few hours, and many starts and stops, even days go by, then, while on the trail far away from base camp, the motor just dies. crank ,crank, crank...nothing. It would only run if WOT and only sputter at 4k+RPM then die. hook up the computer, reset to base install, go thru all the initial set up again, and it starts.
Most of my driving is 10-15MPH across dirt trails with an occasional off camber road or rock garden to roll through. No racing, No Extreme power usage.
Being towed off the trail for this kinda thing sucks.
I know, this was mostly a RANT, But if you have any advice, please do. thanks, Robert

Quote from Deleted user on August 20, 2018, 6:27 pmThis may be a problem with the unit itself. I have had memory problems on new units, but only during initial tuning. After a little tuning there is no issue. I have been told there is a lithium battery for the memory and needs an initial charge.
As much as I hate to suggest this, calling Fitech is probably the next step.

Hey tonkajeep, just wondered if you found a solution to your problem, it sounds similar to my situation, will run good for about a 100 miles or so then want to die... when it does this I’ve noticed the iac ramps up to 225, AFR drops to 11-12 and floods it, if you look at the run state it says it’s in crank mode and won’t leave crank mode no matter what rpm it is at. If I reset the ecu it starts up fine and goes another 100 miles or so....

I'm glad I had my handset with me. thought it might be a grounding issue, but also I'm running headers with a flowmaster stuck on the end, and I think I will run the rest of the exhaust out to the back. I've heard of issues with an open header.
I had to change gears and work on other projects, so the Jeep has sat for a little bit. I'm going out this week end and will report back. Wish me luck.

That exhaust will definately be an issue. Need to have around a foot between header collector and sensor, also around a foot from sensor to the muffler.

Quote from TONKAJEEP on January 21, 2019, 9:45 amThis is getting to be Very disappointing. It happened again! Not in a nice open field near a shady oak tree, no deep in the desert gorge full of huge rocks! The engine runs like its got 3 fouled plugs and is dumping so much fuel you eyes burn. I getting to the point of thinking I never should have bought one of these POS.
