FItech Timing Control Disaster

I have a 600 non pa on a small block Chrysler 340.

This is how I set up my system:

1. Set the balancer on 16* BTDC

2. Put in my distributor, pointing at #1

3. Adjusted the adjustable rotor, clockwise, to 16*

4. Lined up the reluctor wheel with the magnetic pickup.

5. Put cap on and set wires

6. Tried starting car, wouldn't start. Eventually just backfired so bad through the exhaust that the muffle split wide open.

I have 12v on the white wire in acc and start.

I have RPM on handheld.

I have a MSD pro billet dist

I have a MSD EFi 6 cdi box

I verified spark from the box to tb coil, using MSD trouble shooting instructions.

I tried to verify spark at the #1 plug, but I got nothing.

It appears that I have no spark at the plug and have the timing way off (resulting in the backfire)

 

I don't what else to do?? I followed the instructions to a T.
