Is my IAC motor bad?

PreviousPage 4 of 5Next

This problem I am having only started just recently I’ve had this unit for over three years and up to this time I have not had any trouble being able to adjust the IAC numbers

I know that it should never Read ZERO but if it does read zero will it be detrimental to driving it

Ok, time to replace.  Hopefully that fixes it.  Looks like this is the part:  AC Delco 19333273

OK I will do that thank you I do sincerely appreciate all your help

Hi everyone a little update I put a new IAC motor on with no change I still have the same problem with the IAC numbers not remaining steady I contacted FI Tech and talk to Alex who is now recommending that I go with a MSD 5520 street fire ignition system because he thinks that the ballast resistor on my stock Chrysler electronic ignition is not giving me a good tech signal any thoughts as to whether this will really fix my problem or not.
Thanks

Interesting.  Take a log of the car running with the IAC numbers not remaining steady and look at the RPM values.  If they are correct according to what the car is doing (you may have to watch this real-time and compare to the tach), then I think the ignition system is being read OK by the computer.

From the data log I sent Alex at FI Tech the RPM values were within range so that’s why am wondering if the ignition is a problem or not, I have run this set up for three years with no issues until just recently that’s why I’m wondering if maybe it’s a ECU problem.

I just ran a data log and as you can see, after I gave the engine some throttle, the RPM's increased as they should then came back to idle, them the IAC number began to climb. I stopped the data log when the IAC number hit 48, but it was still climbing and finally stopped at 141. the idle seems to be good and is the same as on my tach, so if any of you have any thoughts on what else to do I would be very appreciative.

I was researching and found kind of the same problem. Check your pcv valve. If it is worn out or stuck open this could be giving you your vacuum leak and causing your idle to be erratic.

Thank you CF for the response. I have plugged off my vacuum ports in the past checking for vacuum leaks and it did not seem to help. The idol actually works pretty good it’s just my IAC number will not stay in spec.

Hope you find it, that would be driving me nuts.
