New EFI 400 wont start please help

Good morning,

I recently installed 400Hp Go EFI on a 1972 Detomaso Pantera with a 351 Ford Cleveland Motor with typical period correct Ford electronics. A two wire Petronix distributor and Petronix Coil. The motor is basically stock with a very mild cam.  I used the Fitech 50001 Fuel delivery kit and all of the wiring is correct with the White wire getting 12 volts from the ford Starter solenoid I post that is 12v during crank 12volts during run source. The red gets direct 12v battery power and the blue is on the negative of the coil. The fuel pump primes and I removed the fuel feed line and verified that it pumps plenty of fuel.

My issue is that it just won’t start. It is getting plenty spark but no fuel. If I hold the throttle wide open it tries to start. If I put fuel or starter fluid down the unit it tries to start. I am at a loss and any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

Look at your RPM at the handheld. There are some different Pertronix some are multiple spark and the RPM signals would be crazy.

Im also built some Megasquirt EFI and got problems using the Pertronix.  Had to filter the RPM signal.

The RPM signal is constant.

Not a expert, but if the ICU doesn't get clean 12v [11v at least] during crank it creates problems.  White wire should get power direct from battery, I used a relay to switch direct power using ignition power from the coil as the trigger, the battery must be in good condition, needs a earth direct from left hand front mounting stud to battery, blue wire must be shrouded [I used woven wire type, some use silver paper], be earthed at one end and be run separate not in loom. Are you getting approx 5 seconds of prime shot [remove air cleaner to check].  On the other hand, it is easy to flood the manifold, more than a few prime shots will do it, getting some response with the throttle wide open could suggest that.

Hi Pettern, what did you use to filter the RPM wire? I used a Pertronix conversion in a points distributor seemingly without problem. Thanks.
