Rev Limit RPM function does nothing

As I play with the Rev Limit RPM function I can't see it doing anything. I had it at 6,000 rpm, I can rev happily past it. For testing, I lowered it to 5k and then 4k and the engine can easily run past it like nothing. Shouldn't it be cutting the fuel? I don't have timing control connected, which is another issue. I have my CDI's rev limiter and doesn't seem to do anything either. The CDI is a MSD Street Fire box. I have two rev limiters and none seem to do its job. Any thoughts?

Rev limiters are exclusively a spark thing...not fuel. If you cut the fuel to 'limit' the RPM, you'll actually just lean out the system (since you'll still have full spark and less available fuel, while the butterflies are still providing adequate air with your foot to the floor), and most likely damage pistons and other hardware. While not an expert on the FiTech system, I believe that you will need to potentially diagnose the Rev Limit at the CDI box. Maybe just operating the rev limit at the CDI box and turning off that feature in the FiTech will help resolve it? Again, this is just a guess as to where to start, as I'm not the EE that designed the system.

However, I am interested in seeing what changes can make a positive effect on the outcome!

I stand corrected. In their documentation, they say spark and fuel. How interesting. However, I would think if they control spark and fuel for the limiter, you'd need to be running the ignition control system to have the unit be able to provide that control. I still feel trying just from the CDI box by itself would be the best option to start with.
