Go street 400 tuning tips?

PreviousPage 2 of 5Next

14.2 at idle seems to be the sweet spot any fatter the engine sounds like it's trying to climb out of the bonnet and slap me in the face. I understand the 400 unit is fitechs base model but what I don't get is why when I add fuel on fast accel the screen shows it leans out before dumping fuel in? Ive tried fatter afr settings across all revs but I then have to pull fuel out off accel settings into neg numbers,  fuel consumption increases but no performance gains. Also I've been running fitech for just over a year now and the settings  I've listed have been arrived at via small 0.10 adj at a time.

Ive been a qualified mech for 20yrs and still learning every day. Short or brief responses sometimes leads to confusion rather than resolution.

Look forward to new advice and experience from the group.

Cheers

I meant no disrespect with my comments.  None of us know each other here yet.  As time goes on, we will begin to recognize each others usernames and know at what level of conversation we can have.  Just trying to help...

I absolutely hate that all it takes is one person to hack a thread.  Now it seems everybody is on the defensive.

All good mate. My afr learn figure hovers between 8-15 which indicates I'm pretty close to a happy tune as far as I understand

Accel pump at +10

fast accel at +10.

Spark plugs also indicate tune is pretty good.

Sorry phone keeps logging me out. Guest replies are from me "Grunt350"

Have the same problem.  Probably going to make members only sooner than I wanted.  Just so you must be logged in to post.  Keeps the confusion down.

Ok I've bumped up accel and fast accel up to +20 on all temps. Changed 1100rpm afr from 14.5 to 14.2. Car now accelerates much harder and spins wheels in drive 1st and 2nd with 3:1 diff ratio. AFR trim showing -7 to -9 at cruise

Now you have a hotrod!!!!  Good deal.

I have never used a 400 unit.  Assumed the settings would be somewhat similar, but learned last night the 400 runs on a lower fuel pressure.  I would assume they do this for the very low hp motors.  Get the fuel rate down low enough.  I would like to see someone change regulators to the 58psi, like the 600s.  I wonder if V8 guys might be happier with performance.

i have a qustion about mine it is also the go st 400 mine is poping back though thre trottlebody what causes that ? any info would be help full btw i have a 468 bigblock
